Macy - Summer 2025 - Full Time
My name is Macy, and I am a third-year student at The Ohio State University. I completed the Clinical Care Coordinator internship during the summer of 2025. As I am going through my undergraduate career looking forward to being a Physician Assistant, I prioritized finding opportunities that will provide me with direct patient care. When I came across this position on Handshake, I knew that it would give me this, but after completing my internship with Perkins Spine and Sports Medicine, I can confidently say now that it provided me so much more than that.
During my time with the PSSM team, I not only learned basic patient flow, navigating EMR systems, taking patient vitals, and scrubbing charts, but every aspect of what goes into providing holistic care to each patient. Kendra and the entire front office team poured so much into my understanding of medicine in its entirety. This experience allowed me the opportunity to interact with patients, proviers, insurance companies, managed care organizations, and many more. Being in a small, private office, this internship allowed me to gain an understanding of what exactly goes into being a healthcare professional. I left this internship with no doubt about my future in healthcare, and with confidence that I will be able to advocate for each and every one of my patients.
